Emily-I am just reading this now but wanted to say this is an excellent post! I however did enjoy highschool and never really felt like an “outsider.” I guess I always felt secure in my small town surroundings. It’s funny to say that it’s harder for me now moving to Delaware and being out of my comfort zone-then it was in highschool.

I love this, Emily. You always offer such an interesting perspective on what can be a tired subject. I love this idea what we were our most stripped down versions of ourselves in high school. As crazy and neurotic as I was then, I realize that I am still that person with, as you say, softened edges. In fact, as different as I am 15 years after graduation, I’d venture to say that I have never been closer to my “real” self as on graduation day.
