Well, I don't have kids but my dog has BAE Disorder, otherwise known as Barking at Everything Disorder. Other dogs, runners, cyclists, postmen, the cats, the faintest echo of someone walking in the hall outside our apartment. Oy vey.

Well, my daughter is only a year old, but she's already displaying the symptoms of SSD: Shrill Screeching Disorder. She scared our pediatrician with her yelp, and caused someone to dramatically place their hands over their ears at the frozen yogurt shop yesterday. She is also suffering from GEWTED: Get Up Way Too Early Disorder. Dude, it's still dark out: did you not get the memo that 5:30 is Too Early to Get Up?

Where do I begin? Let me get back to you. Or maybe I'll write a related post about Ian. But Rob doesn't like it when I "out" family weaknesses. Because we're so different than everyone else with tweens and teens. Ha.

It seems to me that this may be a contagious disorder that he might have caught from our daughter (or perhaps mosquito borne on Willow Lane). She has had this all of her life. The most annoying symptom is leaving the car door open all night with her trash, clothes, books, sewing projects, duct tape, my phone that she was using for a timer, etc all spilling out of the back onto the driveway...........and us wondering if the car will still start since the lights have been on all night. I can only imagine what the neighbors old and new must think of our lack of attention to securing our car (tho it would be a blessing if someone actually stole all of the crap). She has the same problems with turning off, cleaning up, and throwing away that Chase does as well. Every time we mention it, she takes great offense, yells "I KNOW" and marches off to sulk without cleaning, turning off, or throwing away any of it.

Another annoying symptom is the compulsive urge to buy more crap. Any store, be it the grocery, hardware, pet, etc. store, the first question is 'can I buy something' (she's always carrying her money with her in the backseat as well--and either sewing or making a new duct tape wallet to hold it). When asked she does not know what she wants to buy and then can't decide on anything without three trips around the store and finally a battle that ends with me declaring that I'm leaving, good luck getting home. After that I have to apologize because she now claims that I hate her.

Sounds to me like Chase has a bad case of the 11-Year-Old Disorder! Good thing is, it passes eventually. Unfortunately, it gets replaced by 15-Year-Old Disorder, which is characterized by replacing all verbal communication with grunting and hypersensitivity to any perceived slights...
