The “with a whip” might be a good thing to have handy in your car the next time Chase is breathing too loudly, Emily. There’s an implied threat there, but it’s still a nonviolent reaction.

And you can make stories with them, Jenn! Here, I used six of your signs in order:
In the tub, the boy was ready for a story about the kind cowboy with a whip that he never used. The cowboy would dream about the supper he would have when he finished his work out on the ranch each day: his ma’s mashed potatoes tasted so good with beef. Each night before he and Pa arrived home, Ma would scrub and sweep with zeal; and if she happened to see it rain, she would hurry even more, knowing they would be home earlier than usual.

I love these words — and the creativity that people apply to them blows me away. Where might one hang the “with a whip” ???? Very cool. Meanwhile, thanks for the voicemail today and your kind calming words. I need a flashcard that says “Let go.”
