TB – Love the idea of Gladwell analyzing the text of 1970s classroom materials and linking them to later violence. It could explain everything.
J – This particular oil refinery town is full of fuel tanks silhouetted against flame-orange skies, as my friend Leslie once brilliantly said. Oh, and abandoned factories. But good try at disspelling the cliches.

Banker Drysdale kicked the TV when Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm had to wrestle the Boston Strong Girl so the evil banker wouldn’t take the farm. “What a rotten kid! There are no evil bankers!”
Nor are there any gritty oil refinery towns! All are full of bluebirds and sunny streets filled with wholesome children riding Schwin bikes and stuff!
