In a related story, I remember when I was working at a theatre in NYC and the three year old of one of the directors walked up to her, unbuttoned her blouse and began nursing. One of the other actors turned to me and said, 'you know they should be weaned when they are old enough to work buttons'. Wow, this book has totally escaped me but I must go get it NOW! I read this book as a child. I have no memory of this description (or any other part of the book except understanding the symbolism in the title). I did have an appalling experience in WEST Marin (not to be confused with Belvedere/Tiburon) when we tried a homeopathic doctor who resembled Whoopi Goldberg for Liam's toddler allergies.
