Glad to see you recognize SuperDad (he would use an intercapital), my most hated of the beach creatures. The worst is when you're renting for a week or two on the same block with this guy, and you know that every morning, he's going to be down there doing his thing in roughly the same place. One year in Rehoboth, the gaudy new 8 bedroom house on the oceanfront of our shabby (chic?) Park Ave. block held the families of no fewer than 3 of these idiots who turned the week into SuperDad Olympics as they competed to impress each other, and each other's wives...though their efforts barely registered with the kids, as you noted.

I loved this post. As you probably know, you described my dad perfectly as the "Mayor", although he is a bit older than his early 70's (don't tell anyone that!!!). Typically, the Mayor is overheard describing in exquisite detail the dinner that he ate the night before...

There's also the 'No Sun For Me' beach goer. Wrapped head-to-toe in towels, sweats and covered by a huge hat under an even huger umbrella.

May I pull from my Memorial Day post? (http://freakinangels.blogspot.com/2010/05/shout-out-to-memorial-day-weekend.html)

# The tall, shapely girl hanging with the not-tall, nor shapely girl who secretly despises her friend
# The posers with their body art
# The meaty, muscle-bound studs strutting their stuff, willing to brave the cold water just for the attention
# The perennially-tanned teens and twenty-somethings in their barely-there bikinis

The Lifeguard - I'm sorting channeling "Entourage" for this one... There's the "talent" - a typically fit young male that may or may not like the water but thinks the job is cool, accompanied by a cast of characters who linger at the lifeguard stand... and yes the male/female roles can be reversed for this one... and don't even think about mentioning Baywatch or David Hasselhoff...they're fake (open to interpretation!!!).
