Fun Stuff! We have been rafting a few times. It is great fun, but it is not a roller coaster ride-where you strap in and just assume your safe. East Coast Surfer is right – all water takes precautions. What a great adventure!

I went whitewater rafting once, also when the water was extremely high. It was Costa Rica, so there were no life jackets involved, and when our boat flipped on a six-foot wave of water, trapping me underneath in the middle of the churning rapid, I have never been so scared in my entire life. It’ll be a LONG time before I go rafting again.

After rethinking the whole series of events at the end of the rafting trip, I think the bottom line is that no matter how much fun you’re having, you can never forget to use common sense and show respect for the water… whether it is in a pool, at a waterpark or, as the following story illustrates, at the beach…
