Oh I was waiting for this one and you did not disappoint. As I said in my email to you - lice is no longer the pariah it once was when we were kids. Its almost a rite of passage - like braces. Not that I wish this on you but how cool that you actually gained a few valuable things from this. Well done - all around. And I'm really hoping for the naked piece next week. Every Mom/Writer needs to do one.

Very wittily written! Although speaking as someone who once had three lousy kids at once, it also brought back the pain and the shame. I remember buying that box of rat poison at the drug store! What worked best was using that metal comb with the teeny tiny teeth. I understand there are ladies in New York who are sent out on just such search-and-destroy missions, hired to hunt lice and eggs down and remove them from the heads of little kids with their mad comb skills. Your post also got at one of the central huge truths of parenting: something always crops up to prevent us from putting away the Christmas decorations. Always.
