My father-in-law is in much better shape than I am. Every Christmas he climbs down a sheer cliff and cuts down his own tree. Then he hikes back up the mountain with the tree on his back... Amazing. Happy Birthday your friend and your mother-in-law. BTW, have you noticed how many bdays there are this time of year. Love must be in the air in JUNE and JULY! When I flew to CA for her birthday party (with family flying in from all around the country ... she had 7 kids, 6 of which survived into adulthood) I expected her to be still recovering. Yeah, right. Her only nod to the fact that she had broken 2 critical bones mere weeks before was that she carried a cane, as the party was in her daughter M's back yard. Given the uneven surface, she didn't want to fall and hurt herself again. At one point, she handed the cane off and walked around the block, explaining to my sister that it was time to get her afternoon excercise. She's always up for playing with blocks, changing a diaper, or splashing during bathtime. And when the babies go to bed (all her grandkids are under 2) she plays Wii and watches movies with her adult kids. I almost always go to bed before she does. Women like this are such an inspiration.
