hey Emily - I know this is an old post, but i just stumbled on it, and had to let you know that both your boys are probably able to do contacts - AJ's been wearing them since he was 9.

I was cracking up!! Mabye I could get Chase to wear his glasses for FIVE minutes. Mabye you should pay him 20 cents for every 15 minutes. If all else fails, nag him. Yes I know this sounds odd coming from me...but I forget what they look like. You should go on an archeologist expodition and search the depths of that backpack when he is at Harlem.

Good luck.

Be glad you have one of each: That way, you can say to both of them, "Why can't you be more like your brother?"

Seriously though, remind Noah that eyes are muscles and his vision will adjust downward if he doesn't exercise them by seeing without the glasses on for part of the day. My adult eye doctor told me if I was his patient as a kid (been wearing glasses full time since fourth grade) then my vision wouldn't be as bad, as he would have had me doing eye exercises and not wearing as strong a perscription. Sigh.

You do have two complete opposites! Maybe Chase can start wearing his specs on a chain around his neck for easy on-off. As the fad spreads, we middle aged people will feel less dorky for doing the same.

I have two kids who are both mildly nearsighted, and they don't wear their glasses all of the time, but then because of that, they lose them or destroy them. They could put them in the case, if they were only able to find the case maybe that would happen. I just bought them each a pair last week, and I am hoping that since they are both getting older and should be more responsible, they will take better care of their glasses. But, I am not going to place any bets, because sadly for them they are much like me,not so organized. Noah does look cute in the glasses, and I think that look is "in", just watched Ellen yesterday and Justin Timberlake was sporting a pair of glasses and he looked adorable!

I think Noah looks terrific in his glasses. Brainy, mature, sophisticated (I know, looks can be deceiving). As long as it doesn't hurt his eyes to wear them when he doesn't need them, I'd say don't sweat it. As for Chase, I'm stumped!

I think they look great on Noah! My daughter is only 6 but already she has expressed wanting glasses to be just like Daddy. My husband is blind as a bat and I have near perfect vision. I'm hoping my daughter takes after me. But if she had to wear them I'm thinking I would prefer her to want to wear them than not.
