I love those final two paragraphs. They just hit me at my core. What a beautiful, apt, stunning metaphor. My mom died from a heart attack at age 51, and I can so relate to that feeling of a life being snuffed out prematurely. A therapist once told me that dealing with sudden death -- and I would put having only 6 weeks to get used to the idea of someone's impending death in that category -- is like having a baseball lobbed at you at 100 MPH and having no time to react, only to absorb the harsh impact.

Jessie, I'm so sorry for your loss. I think you've summed up the reality of grief quite well. Take care of yourself.

So very sorry for your loss, Jessie. But so grateful you chose to write about your grief as your poignant words, as usual, hit the mark and Im sure your Aunt Terry would be so very proud. Hugs.
