Linda, there's a reason why I say that you always take the high road. And getting back to an earlier blog post, you've never gained an ounce in your life....perhaps that is the karma Susan mentioned. Lindsay, you are so truthful I'm not surprised you couldn't come up with a lie on the spur of the moment.

This morning, I was honest when I don't think the car insurance adjustor I was speaking with expected me to be. I was inquiring about coverage for a windshield repair I had done last October. Since a year hasn't elapsed and I have the receipt, I was informed that I am covered. It would have been easy to stop there. But then I voluntarily mentioned that the chip had appeared over a year ago. Did that negate my claim? I think she was surprised by my "over" honesty. She said that was fine, the company would go by the date of the repair receipt.

I know this is an undramatic example, but it's just the sort of quasi-honest territory we can all get into... those daily occurrences when it's just easier not to be completely forthright. When I catch myself doing this, I force myself to go the next step.

Wow! I can relate. I believe it's all karma, you may get away with something in one instance, but get jammed in another.

As I remember the speeding ticket story the young CHP officer was encouraging me to give him ANY small excuse for my speeding and I would have probably gotten off with a warning, but I didn't have an excuse!

I am honest and can be obnoxiously soap-box preachy about it. I never want get caught and have trained myself to be almost 100% squeaky clean lie-free.("Don't wear that from the laundry yesterday; it stinks." is the kind of little white lie I might tell.) Don't want to look over my shoulder, wake up in a sweat in the middle of the night or run into someone and slink away before they see me. My mother raised us saying 10x a day "Don't tell Daddy about this when he gets home; he'll kill me." We were raised to be little fib masters.

That being my past, I love when companies sent ME my check back when I've paid a bill twice, by mistake.

However, I do NOT encounter honesty back very much. The kid who is supposed to do something they swore to do,they don't. The revisionistas telling their versions of the truth (hahahaha)
-- my ex-husband, former boyfriend, next door neighbor, and again, the kid. I could go on and won't.

Now going to pay some bills. I hate this and won't lie to you. Peace out Jennifer.
