Love this look on love, Em! Such a poignant description of the challenges with wanting our kids to be loved, but not being able to give them all that they need. Hope you were feeling the love on v-day. xxoo

I can only imagine that transition for your kids (or anyone's kids) from the love that is enough in the family to them looking for intimate partners of their own. Hope you had a beautiful Valentine's. xo

Beautifully expressed Em. As you know, I might as well be a "Jewish" mother. How our relationship changes with the evolution of our children is a never ending path but one thing seems to remain a constant (besides our profound love for them) and that is providing sound, heartfelt, soulful and intelligent guidance along that pathway. Easy, no; hard/harrowing/questionable/confusing/wrenching; my yes. I'm sure you have had "those" times (I know you have as I've witnessed them in your sons' character and behaviors) when in a blink of an eye, they say or do something that confirms all the love, efforts, and guidance you gave and you think, "Yes, it was all worth it, they really got it, I (we) did a good job!" Wait until they actually have a conversation with you about how lucky they were/are to have the love and guidance you gave/give them...but then, that's a little further down the path.

Well said. I had one of those awkward mom moments this weekend where my normally outspoken self suddenly was at a loss for words. And I always thought I'd be great with teenagers because you can talk to them. Just didn't realize figuring out what to say is the tough part.

As usual, Em, you have captured it to a tee. Crying while I print this out to pull out and read again when I need it. Thank you.
