I have been ready to put up the "for sale" sign on our house for awhile, not because of my house but because of our mostly un-friendly neighborhood. Just a few weeks ago I was yelled at by a neighbor at 6:15 am when our house was being re-roofed, a man I had never once met in the eight years I've lived here. I guess he felt like he could berate me on my front lawn in the near darkness because I was just a stranger who happened to live across the street from him. It was a final straw for me, and I am really searching out the kind of community you talk about here. But how do you find it, other than being lucky enough to stumble upon and win the "lottery" of The Lane? I would absolutely die — in a good way — to live on your street, Emily. We have had about four new families move to our circle in the past year, and most of them came out for a last minute block party a couple weeks ago.
