		<description>If things in government are like the good ol&#039; days (and what in government-program funding ever changes that much?) some outside direct marketing company is being paid by the Marines on a COST-PLUS basis for getting the recruitment info out -- so they don&#039;t exactly care about (in fact, probably look askance at) paring down the stupidly elevated Fed Ex cost.  And so it goes.  (Interestingly, Jennifer, one of my early advertising agency jobs, too, was with the agency that handled ARMY recruiting, where I witnessed this structure and mindset.)  If it soothes your mind at all, just days ago, Alex, my fiancee&#039;s 20-year-old son, had an unsolicited Marines baseball cap(and literature) sent to him -- vs. plain ol&#039; US Mail.  Politics aside, it&#039;s a pretty cool hat.  But he&#039;s not falling for it.</description>
