Oh fun! Wish I was there, would have been nice to see you again.

Also? I used jarred sauce. My goodness, it takes too freaking long to make homemade! Who has time for that?

Your sauce was excellent! And if it's of any help, the stress didn't show at all. : )

you don't know how happy this makes me!
I use jarred sauce, much to the chagrin of my inlaws who think it's a sin to use jarred so they make their own.

OUT OF CANNED TOMATO PRODUCTS!!

jerks. all of them.

good luck, I know you'll do just fine.

My sister's in-laws host "Soup Sundays" all summer up in the Adirondacks. You never know what the soup will be and you never know who will show up with what in hand. I like the weekend aspect to take a bit of the pressure off, but spaghetti for 50+ would sure cure the Hump Day Blues!

Have a GREAT time!

My grandmother's name was Rafaella Verlingheiri. (Her sisters, of course, were Concetta and Annunciata, thank you for asking, though they went by Ella, Etta, and Nancy to sound more American.) They had the hand-crank machine to can their own "gravy." And you know what? By the 1970s, while they would still do that, because they were Depression survivors and still grew and canned their own food, they also used Ragu. They laughed at the Aunt Millie's sauce commercial that bragged it had "no added sugar" because who in their right mind doesn't add sugar to sauce? So they went with Ragu when it was on sale at the Acme for days in summer, when the prior year's gravy had run out and it was too early or too hot to make more from scratch.
All of which to say: I'm sure your sauce will be excellent. And if you have butter, the kids will be happy anyway. And at least it gave you a blog post, right?

Breathe, Jewish sister, breathe.

It's just spaghetti. It's just spaghetti. It's just spaghetti.

When you came to my house, did you judge me because I used sauce from a jar and my noodles were sticky? No. You did not.

p.s. if you did judge me, then you can expect that I'll find the dirtiest corner of your home, photograph it, and post it on the Daily Kos tomorrow.

I do the same thing; when I'm overwhelmed by everything, out of my mouth spouts an invitation to a bunch of people to come over for a meal. What is that??? I think it's my warped way of trying to figure out my physical and emotional limits! And more warped is that I must believe that my breaking point should be witnessed by a large audience.

It sounds like a great idea and I do hope it was fun.
