You mean you can't remember his name?! Not sure, but Cat Stevens was a savvy move on his part.

Thank you for sending me back through those wonderful songs...my favorite was Father and Son. It is one of three songs that alwasy make me weep. The others are Simon & Garfunkel's America ("Cathy I'm lost,...) and Puff the Magic Dragon ("sadly slipped into his cave...") I'm weeping at my keyboard....

Having a crush on Jim Croce is like swooning for Shemp Howard - come on! Your taste, even then, was excellent. I believed that my main rivals for the affections of female adolescents were James Taylor and Jackson Browne -- but then I'm older than you, my dear.

We sang it at my mother's memorial in 2005 as well. I know exactly how you feel about the steady drumbeat of Mother's Day reminders.

My mother passed her love of Cat Stevens to me and my sisters in the early 70s and MHB was her all-time favorite. When she died two years ago, it was on the top of the playlist for our celebration of her life. As we near Mother's Day and my public radio station is incessantly reminding me to send flowers (if only I could), I feel the loss even more intensely; thanks for giving me a smile on a tough morning.
