Since I own my died, I've found lots of different women to help fill different pieces of the gaping hole left behind in her absence. In fact, I oftentimes find myself unwittingly drawn to nurturing women of a certain age. These women are important to me -- as a mother, a daughter, and a woman.

Beautiful Jess! I too have a few other mothers in my life and I am sending this to them. But this got me thinking how much I enjoy being the "other mother" -- and what an important role that is -- even if its just for a moment when someone needs to be picked up or fed or nurtured. Takes a village!!

This is a really beautiful reflection, Jessie. I can relate well to the moment you describe right after you became a mother, wanting a mother of your own to help walk you through it. You've also given me food for thought this morning as I give thanks not only for my own terrific mom, but also for the Other Mothers that have helped and continue to help raise me.
