Em, I submit that everyone has something in their lives they’re die-hard about. You just have to find it. And, I do agree with you about loving your kids whether they win or lose, but I’d submit that that’s die-hard, too. You see, us die-hard Red Sox fans have stood by this team so long and through so many heart-breaking seasons that we understand that whether they win or lose, we still love them.

My friend just had a stroke…yes she is fine! But she is young and it was a weird TIA thing. Anyway, she was at the hospital while her husband, a die hard Phillies fan went to the game. They live in LA. She encouraged her husband to go. If Tom picked the game over staying with me at the hospital….he better get used to never having sex again!

Well said, Em! I’m sure I left lots of die hards scratching their heads when I left in the 7th inning of last night’s clincher so I could beat the traffic and get in bed at a reasonable hour given my nasty head/chest cold/swine flu. And watching from my cozy bed as the fans went nuts after the final out, I was quite certain I’d made the right decision. Rob, on the other hand, didn’t get home till 3:00 a.m. Don’t get me started…

Very well put! I am a fair weather fan (at best), especially when it comes to baseball. My husband doesn’t grasp the concept that life must go on despite the fact that there is a play off game tonight. Kids still have to eat! Totally lost on him. Go Phils!
