Life really has changed since 9/11. We don't travel a whole lot but back then we had two trips planned right after 9/11 that had been booked months prior. One was to San Diego/Las Vegas in October without the kids and one to Disneyland with all of them in November.

We had lots of discussions as to what we should do-keeping in mind that everyone was waiting for the next shoe to drop and places like Las Vegas and Disney were supposedly prime targets. After much discussion we decided to go on both trips.

In the end we had great times on both trips. And to make it even better there were no crowds in either location.

You made the right decision-life must go on-it doesn't mean you stop worrying-as you know that is what being a parent is all about.

if it makes you feel any better, we actually had a mom (just one) from one of our travel teams question taking the teams to a tournament in downtown DC....we, of course, said (in a much more polite way) "don't be ridiculous - everything will be fine." And it was (snow was way more of a problem) (-;

There's a reason Mars 2112 is kept so dark, but let's not think about that right now. Glad to hear Noah had the highest possible praise for the trip.

I'm glad you let Noah go -- easier said than done, I imagine. I was all excited to see a photo of the UN building, b/c that was one of my favorite tours when we visited NYC for the first time a few years ago!
