I think so many of us want affirmation about ourselves and our choices --that the voice inside our heads is not enough. What a great gift you are giving to others when you help them with their confidence and self esteem. But equally important is finding those people who can help you too. I think its a difficult premise to think that it all has to come from ourselves - especially when there are others who can help us along the way. Keep being that person for others -- youre good at it!

I can almost see the red wine coming out of your nose and it's very pretty!
You are awesome, Jess, and so much funnier than Ms. Handler. Plus, I know you and that makes you even funnier. xoxoxox

One of the best moments on Star Trek: Next Generation (one of maybe seven thousand best moments) was when Picard and Beverly were lost together on some desert planet while sharing a mindlink that enabled each to hear the other's thoughts. Trying to figure out how to get back to civilization, Beverly says, "Which way should we go?" Picard surveys the area and says seriously, "This way," and strides off. Beverly says, "Wait. You're just guessing. You don't know which way to go. You're just acting like you do. How often do you do that?" And Picard says, "As Captain, you have to act like you're in command even when you're aren't."

So immediately establish for your students that you know what you're doing, which shouldn't be hard because they're just students (I'd get in some weird pose they have no hope of achieving), then act like you still know what your doing during those times you don't. Because sooner or later you'll figure it out and get things back on track, but they'll never know.
