Yes, we have taught a man to fish, now we need to teach him how to mix up batter from a box. Actually Ian makes his own pizza, with real dough that rises in a bowl and fresh tomatoes and basil. Slight progress!

Or teach them how to bake brownies.
Since the boys already seem to know how to fish, they must compliment their food foraging skills by learning how to bake brownies and chocolate chip cookies.
If the history of men and foodstuffs can relied on for being timeless, I have no doubt that the aggrieved one-brownie whiner helped himself to more than one brownie, but less than the 20 percent of the pan he thought he was entitled too.

I had to resort to the same thing in our house. In fact, I clearly remember explaining to the 20 year old that if you open a brand new box of cheese-itz and eat the entire box in one sitting... then no one else in the family gets to have any cheese-itz which isn't fair (or healthy). I am constantly in shock by just how much and how fast they can eat! Rationing is the only way to tackle their food impulses.

With four kids and few sweets in the house we always counted how many pieces each-but did not separate. The honor system did not work. Remember a real interrogation over Grandma's homemade chocolate covered cherries. The guilty party (a MOB reader) proclaimed she "hated chocolate covered cherries" thereby sealing her guilt.

I'm afraid I got the middle piece which was very sludgey due to insufficient stirring-in of the chocolate syrup packet. Mistakes were made. By me. And then I had to eat it with a spoon. The boys all prefer the corner bits.

"it's nobody's business but your own'

LOVE it!

That's why I keep all my good snacks at work. If I want them all on Monday or if I want to stretch them out, i.n.b.m.o.

Brilliant solution, Jennifer! I never had siblings, but I would consistently cut the very middle brownie from the pan (it IS the best piece), and that used to irritate my parents to no end. So the question is...who got the middle piece?
