If only cell phone cameras had existed way back in the 80s. Skirtsman was the victim of a short-lived fad.

There was a man in Cortland, where I grew up, who we all called Red Shoe Black Shoe. His schtick was that he actually wore one red shoe and one black shoe. Also, he wore shorts and a t-shirt no matter what the weather, which required a lot of fortitude in CNY. He lived with his mom and didn't drive, so he walked by our house all the time on the way to Main Street.

Ah, because I'm female, this reference to a Monty Python skit is lost on me. But now I'm intrigued by John SmokesTooMuch and will try to find it on YouTube.

A chain-smoking student named John whom we called "John SmokesTooMuch" based on a Monty Python skit. I watched him nervously smoke one evening until he realized that he had three lit at once.

When my wife Linda and were house hunting, we met a homeowner of a certain age who looked like she spent an hour in front the mirror every morning. Every time we referred to that house, we'd say, "you know the one with the 'well-preserved lady'" and instantly understand.
We also had a friend named Becky who was slim but with a bit of a belly. Whenever my wife or I looks a little chubby around the middle, the other will tease, 'so how's your becky today?' Sorry to all the Beckys out there!
