I will have to read your piece. Thanks to your advice (over dinner) I was training the kids to fold sheets and towels this weekend. For your sake, they do not know you were the source of this idea. In a record bad parent moment yesterday, I believe I told my kids they were the most "lazy ass kids I had ever met". They were stunned. Liam told me I must be stressed about the dinner party that day. I accused his Dad of planting that thought but he assured me he figured it out by himself.

I've learned much from the Babble discussion. All this time you were worried about raising Mamma's Boys, when really you should have been fearing T*tty Babies.

I think it's amazing that you're willing to put yourself out there like that and take on all that flak! Good for you!

My opinion about your mean commenter is this: "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." *stands and waits...*

Hang in there; some people just have way too much un channelled angst!!

I hope you'll join us for <a href="http://blog.mommywizdom.com/2008/12/08/fun-monday--random-acts-of-kindness.aspx" rel="nofollow">Fun Monday</a> this week! It's not too late.

When I used to write for Strollerderby (also on Babble) I would get some of the meanest comments.

I always wondered about the audience over there. It seems like some people just came around to rip the writer apart.

Bad Parent is such a fun column, isn't it? Usually I can see the mom's side, and the times I can't, I remember that someone else feels that strongly about the stuff I can blow off.
And we all indulge our kids in some way. I couldn't possibly put out clothes for my five year old or he would never, ever wear them again. But I have other ways I "spoil" him--carrying him in from the car, for example, when he's "too tired" to walk. They're only little once. Soon enough they will totally reject what they used to crave. Enjoy it while it's here!
And I'd still love to connect off-line now that my work crunch is over until mid-January. Let me know!
