totally cheeezy movie that I hated the first time I saw (after much build-up from everyone who'd already seen it--but after multiple viewings it's cuter elements have grown on me, but the last scene, with real people arriving and being greeted by loved ones at Heathrow airport in Love Actually gets me every time!

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion... love actually is all around."

My boys cried over "Where the Wild Things Are" and declared the movie "terrible". We had a discussion over why anyone would want to watch a movie that made you cry! I cry over lots of movies, just watched "My Sister's Keeper" and cried a little, but sobbed when I read the book.

I'm a chick-flick cryer myself. But the one that gets me every time is Schindler's list. And Life is Beautiful. FULL ON SOBBING, don't know why I do it to myself.

The only thing that makes me cry more is any documentary about 9/11. The day my innocence died.

I cry at the drop of a hat, but I vividly remember bawling my eyes out after seeing Love Story for the first time (I still cry every time I see it)

Well, you certainly picked one of my favorites. Love the movie, love the book and loved doing a production of it at PCS several years ago. For me, Bridge On The River Kwai, Sayonara, Sophie's Choice, Out of Africa, Good-bye Mr. Chips, Lion in Winter, Member of the Wedding, Days of Wine and Roses, Original Titanic with Clifton Webb are just a few of them. Guess I cry a lot more than I thought!

A River Runs Through It. Dead Poets Society. A a really random Disney cartoon about a donkey. Sometimes it's just great to cry.

There are so many, Jennifer. I am definitely a movie-cryer, if there is such a thing. Sense and Sensibility (the Emma Thompson version). Rachel Getting Married. Little Women (the Winona Ryder one). Life is Beautiful. La Vie en Rose. There is a little-known film called, "The Whole Wide World." I think it's one of Renee Zellweger's first roles. It's the only movie where I've actually sat in a theatre and wept -- audibly wept. And I know I wasn't the only one.

AND, you've inspired me to reread "To Kill a Mockingbird." One of my favorite books.
