Jennifer:

This is in response to your comments on ice not being a food. Next time you are in a restaurant and order a drink with ice in it, remember it is not regulated and could contain just about anything.....when you drink the drink, is the ice going to be ingested into your body? Hopefully, it will not contain any fecal coliforms

Yes, the exclamation point adds nothing but more weirdness. As if you've been engaged in an argument with the ice machine about whether or not frozen water has any nutritional value, and the machine is emphatically correcting you.

"It is NOT a food." "Is TOO!"

And to SUR above, I love the thought of Chris getting on the DL from his fantasy baseball league injuries. Brilliant.

I read the ice is food thing this morning, but have to admit that the photo really does bring home just how bizarre that claim really is. Maybe it's the exclamation point, as if the ice man wants to share this wonderful discovery with the world!

Chris may be the only person to tear his rotator cuff "playing" fantasy baseball. Did he offer to go under the knife in place of Cole Hamels?
Rotator Cuff surgery gives Chris plenty of cachet around his Fantasy Baseball peers. Who better to arbitrate the incessant argument about who is the most reliable authority on pitching than a guy who has been under the knife. This is a peek at how Chris will react when he gets his knees done in five years.
Finally, you should insist that he observe the rehab protocol and not "play" any baseball for a full season.

I am pretty sure this assertion was made on the advice of a lobbyist who was working Harrisburg to retain or gain for the packaged ice industry an exemption from sales tax in PA, where most food is not taxed. A novel theory, but kind of hard to back up...isn't nutritional value one of the essential characteristics of food?

What luck! Chris can now watch the entire Law & Order oeuvre in all its reincarnations. All channels all the time. Dan can recite some of the dialogue verbatim, learned when he was laid up a few years ago. Feel better soon!

Oh dear, sorry to hear this. Please tell Chris we're thinking of him and wishing a speedy recovery. (Maybe we can make him a CD of the HBO special from Sunday night, 25th annual Rock&Roll Hall of Fame concert, if he didn't see it. That would eat up 4 hours of downtime!) I know nothing about this surgery -- what is the usual recovery/therapy timespan?
