OMG, I think I'm a guy! Rob was in a state of disbelief after I told him I never watched the Monkees and never ever had a thing for Davy Jones. And I honestly don't recall ever having a teen idol. I have mid-life idols, however! A picture of Matthew McConaughey in my office, blog posts about Matthew Bomer (maybe it's just a Matthew thing), and fantasies about Ryan Gosling where I look at him without his shirt and say "Fuck! Are you photoshopped?" Interesting. If you pay me for time and travel, I will be a willing research subject for your study.

Like, like, like!! I tend to think the anthropological differences with men and women go back to our hard-wiring from cavemen origins. Women were having children by 15 and as a key to stability (food, shelter, protection) in their lives, could not be finding themselves oggling over the guy in the cave next door...they need to be sure they were "all in" with the guy in their cave. I'm being simplistic, but showering their attentions on their caveman, was a good way to keep him from wandering too far...and keep yourself and your kids alive.

Cave men, on the other hand, were hard-wired for reproduction...and once they reached "that age" it was likely that they were oggling women than just the one in their own cave...

Just my two cents (and as I read this, this is probably the least-feminist thing I've ever written and I'm not quite sure how I feel about that), but I think there is something to it....

James at 15! Wow, I haven't thought about that show in YEARS! My list also included Shaun Cassidy and Scott Baio, plus Willie Ames and Leif Garrett. Sigh....
