Oh dear, I did know about this (but had no idea you didn’t)! I learned shortly after arriving though likely many hours after it happened. If it makes you feel any better, I did ask if Chase needed ice, tylenol and if his head hurt and made sure to keep an eye on him the following day too. He didn’t exhibit any unusual symptoms or else I assure you, this mom would have called…Surf…and let you enjoy your trip either way. Glad he’s ok. He’s a great kid and was an absolute pleasure to be with.

I’m glad you didn’t get this info when we were in Manzanita, but can totally related to keeping secrets from certain members of the family (and even friends). It shows a level of intimacy only family (and sometimes friends) can achieve. Glad he is OK and hilarious how you found out

Sigh. I am not yet at this stage with my kids (At least I don’t think I am?) but I am wondering if the “issues of health and safety” that are kept from moms of boys are the same for moms of girls. If I remember correctly, the things that were on the “don’t tell mom” list were: Don’t tell mom that it’s a co-Ed party, Don’t tell mom I stole her blue eye shadow…Don’t tell mom that I shaved my legs, etc. And it didn’t stop with adulthood…there are still a few things on my “don’t tell mom” list;)

Had a similar experience with Ian recently. Have never understood his irrational (in my opinion) fear of crossing the street or riding his bike on a somewhat busy road. He finally confessed that he was almost hit by a car last year. As in “my hands were on the hood of the car” close. I had the same reaction – how the f**k could you have kept this from me for a year?? Rob didn’t know about it either.

Oh wow. I really admire your cool head on this one. I would have been sick with worry, even after the fact. We regularly have mishaps around here when I travel too. Glad to hear all is ok!
