I was down there watching a friend of mine compete and got caught in that nasty storm! I'm working on a post about watching the triathlon, but in short I have to say it was inspiring and awesome -- not just to watch all these amazing women race, but to see all the husbands/dads/partners & kids cheering these women on. p.s. I think the 2nd run portion should have been the swim, given the amt. of rain that came down! Congrats! I was down there watching a friend of mine compete and got caught in that nasty storm!

I was also really disappointed that the swim got cancelled, because that is my best leg as well. And, I was on the race course when they closed it, so I cut my run short, but at least still got to cross the finish line. Chris and I once advised a race client to reschedule a 10-mile run on a July day that was forecast to hit 100 degrees. They argued, they weren't happy, but they did it and the race took place in September, without incident. Any outdoor event in this region in July & August is a huge gamble, weather-wise. I'm frankly kind of shocked that organizers didn't pull the plug on the entire tri yesterday. Very happy that nobody was hit by lightning on foot or bikes yesterday. Well done, fellow MOBster!
