What a beautiful post. I loved it so much I just tweeted it. My son just had his first haircut last weekend. I clearly have lots of changes ahead of me.

Remembering My Grown Son Harris As A Little One
By D.K. Milgrim-Heath©2011
Remembering my grown son Harris as a little one-
Daughters Emile and Sabrina grown too their baby times are done!
So helpless our children are when first born-
Need Mother’s attention with feedings when your ½ asleep at the crack of dawn.
Funny how one’s children can become much taller than you –
Especially one’s sons while in college they can still grew a bit too.
Sons having growth spurts in middle school become all of a sudden so tall-
Don’t mothers remember cooing to them lullabies when they were small?
Of my three children Harris looks most like me everyone does say-
A tall man at 6ft.4 –a gentle giant no more signs of that little boy in any way!
Being newborn Harris’s hair was like soft wind- blown feathers blowing in the breeze-
So adorable that looks for all baby boys when they have that- if you please!
Hard to believe you picked up your children really in your arms to hold so tight-
Harris picked me up now the same way what a funny sight!
When your grown son picks you up in his strong arms-
You think back to his babyhood and even now he never lost his charms!

Late to the party, but yeah, that was really lovely, Emily. Much love to your family and your young man in particular.

Oh my goodness - every word of this rings true. I cannot control the tears but am not sure if they are tears of happiness or a certain sadness that my little boy is growing up. Being blessed with taking on the role to nurture and grow that tiny little bundle of blue is truly the miracle and a something I would not swap for all of the money in the world. Thanks Emily you have put my morning "rush the kids out of the door" into perspective.

Just last night my sister gushed to me on the phone because William (her 2-year-old) just spent his first full day in big boy underwear (Thomas the Tank UnderRoos). It does go way too fast sometimes. Other times I can't wait to get them out of the house! What prompted this heartfelt tribute?
