Because gender IS a social construction; sex is not. The way these people are going about it is just as bad as buying into every single gender stereotype--extremes never work. I can't tell you how many times I got crap from people when I was a kid because I didn't look like a typical girl. Heck, until I started to grow my hair out I would get nasty looks walking into a women's restroom; I still do at times if I have a hat on, and I constantly get called "sir." All because I don't buy into how I am "supposed" to dress/look/etc. as a woman.
