You have such a way of capturing Phoebe's voice and spirit every time you write about her; I feel like I have such a sense of who she is. I am always amazed -- and I know this is not the most original insight, but it's true -- by how children are who they are from the youngest age. Each year that passes is just opening up and solidifying what is already there. My daughter? A consummate old soul. I'm pretty sure she's, like, 500 years old. The picture they took of her at the hospital has her giving a laser-sharp, searing look into the camera. This made me laugh out loud at multiple points.
