As a former career counselor, this idea that the one gift we long for is what already innately possess -- even if it's lying dormant -- is fascinating to me. I know you probably don't have much time to read these days but you might really enjoy Katrina Kenison's "The Gift of an Ordinary Day." She uproots her family into temporary circumstances when her children are young in search of a better, more expansive life, and I think you might relate and find some support in her words. Great post and really interesting perspective.
