I was more like Malcolm when I was a young person..my parent's World Books were a treasure to me. Our The Office experience..the first third was great, then the screen turned purple. The a notice came by and said there was a problem.. We have Dish..every channel was working fine except The Office channel. The man of the house hooked up our lap top to the t.v. the next night and we watched it that way. To bad you and your brother missed Steve 'by that much'... ;o)

That is so familiar. Malcolm struggles through fiction - he just can't sink his teeth into it. Venus flytraps - violence in the plant world! What could be cooler? Very cute story!

My sixth grader is also a nonfiction fan. He'll always choose one of those World Record type books when we offer to buy him something at the annual school book fair. Only once can i recall walkng past his bedroom and seeing him engrossed in a book. I stopped in my tracks to ask him about it. Venus flytraps and other carnivorous plants was the topic! Fiction is torture for him. If it didn't actually happen, what's the point?
