Is there really a gay/lesbian decorating difference?
Yes.
Are gay men that much more obsessive about decorating?
Yes.
Do magazine editors only have gay male friends?
Yes.
Or do the mostly women readers of these magazines just accept gayness in men more willingly than in women?
Yes.

Asked and answered. Seriously, if you accept the proposition of any Mars/Venus gender differences it makes sense. For what are perhaps just cultural reasons, homosexuality is associated with transgender personality traits. So gay men are decorators, which leaves more mullet hair cuts, trucker hats and flannel shirts for the lesbians. I used to live on Christopher street so I know whereof I speak. Honestly, my decorator was *Fabulous*. I saw a couple amazing catfights outside the "Cubbyhole" and the ladies involved did not look like the actors on "The 'L' Word" (to my dismay).

I detest those "trendy" words and phrases - "upscale", "grow your business", "in the weeds" - and the only thing worse is the use of those trendy items with the lack of originality. So, I guess you could say that trendy copycats are not on my favs list...

Thanks for the courage to point out what so many are thinking!

You're right about that gay guys/lesbian women thing. I HAVE fallen into that TV-Home Show trap, especially during one miserable, flu-ridden week this past spring. To the dismay of my "the-sofa-looks-just-fine-already-don't-add-any-more-PILLOWS" husband, I'm addicted to those shows. I've seen a LOT of gay guys and their gorgeous homes, but never once the home of two lesbian women. Till you commented on it, I never noticed! Must be some psycho/social dynamic going here we're not aware of.
