I later showed it to my neighbor, who promptly told me it was a tick, and she removed it with tweezers while I held the dog still. Ugggh.... If it hadn't been on his face, I would have never found it in my shaggy long-haired golden retriever. Congrats on the blog and I can't wait to read more. Wonderful job! Love the post. I can relate as we live in the country and have ticks, and RATS too as they are very common in the woods of california. We already found one tick attached to Justin this season. Right behind the ear. The kids are very used to our nightly "tick checks." I am no doctor (must be said b/c I am a lawyer), but I have read that if you catch them very early (within 24 hours) it is next to impossible to get lyme. So keep up the tick checks!
