It’s been long enough. MoB is going politico. The above comes from one of the funniest and raunchiest (read R-rated) electronic greeting card websites out there today- someecards.com. It also has the benefit of being true.
I keep asking myself: If John McCain selected Sarah Palin to be his running mate to win over the Hillary Clinton supporters, weren’t there any better female choices out there? It’s almost as if he wants to lose.
Recent revelations about her daughter’s pregnancy and her loose cannon ex-brother-in-law don’t make me question Palin’s morals, parenting or judgment. But they make me question McCain’s choice. Because these things make Palin just like the rest of us.
News flash: I don’t want a regular everyday Hockey Mom leading our country – nor do I want her second in line. If being a Hockey Mom were a prerequisite, then I could be VP! Is it Freudian that I keep misspelling her name “Plain”?
Republican supporters continue to talk about Palin’s very compelling personal story. I speak only for myself but I don’t think the greatest characteristic about the VP candidate should be their “personal story.” I want to be in awe of their intelligence, track record, and achievements. Sure, Palin has accomplished some impressive things but she doesn’t wow me like Hillary did. She doesn’t inspire me like Obama. And she doesn’t offer the confidence of Joe Biden. And after 8 years of having to turn off the TV every time our President appeared because I was embarrassed for him, I want desperately to be in awe of our leaders. Just a bit.
A little known secret fact about me: I have been a registered Republican since I could vote. Very moderate, but Republican. But they have lost me. I am all about breaking the glass ceiling but only if the candidate is the best for the job. Palin didn’t bring it home for me.
Many of you may remember this bit from The Daily Show a few months back when Jon Stewart is doing a schtick on Obama as an “elitist”. It’s hysterical, but oh so true. It’s long but FF to when the topic is brought up about 7:08 into the video.
For those who can’t access the video, Stewart quips,
You know…doesn’t elite mean good? Is that not something we are looking for in a President? You know what, candidates? I know ‘elite’ is a bad word in politics and you want to go bowling and throw back a few beers. But the job you’re applying for? If you get it and it goes well, they might carve your head into a mountain! If you don’t think you are better than us – then what the f*@% are you doing? Not only do I want an elite president, but I want someone who is embarrassingly superior to me.
Me, too. MoBama. MoBiden. MoBetter.
