I arrived from Tel Aviv this morning at 5:00 a.m. and was home in time to wake the boys up for school.  I have a feeling this trip is going to be much like a classic Saturday Night Live skit in which you don’t appreciate the genius of it all until after the fact — when you re-visit it in your mind and in conversation.  Today’s post is a short one as it has been a crazy eight days, leaving me completely exhausted and extremely thankful for blessings big and small.

I am thanking for safe and fascinating travels, unprecedented opportunities, and the new friends I made while I was in Israel.  The trip to Petra will likely be the most amazing travel experience I will ever have.  But as I sit in my office and type on my computer with the dog at my feet and the view out my window I’m so very thankful to be home among my people and my things.  Its hard to appreciate what you have until you don’t have it anymore – even if its just for a week.  I am thankful for cell phone coverage, good paper towels, the availability of diet Pepsi, and my own bed.  In fact, I may just wrap myself in the paper towels and crawl into bed and drink DP and make cell phone calls all day.

Looking forward to getting back into the regular blog routine next week – I hope you all have a great weekend.  Don’t forget to set your clocks back on Sunday!
